‘An Oasis in the Catlins'

"This rather unique café/restaurant proved to be a saviour for us on our last trip through the Catlins, two hour’s drive from Dunedin. In the middle of nowhere it’s a real gem, an oasis serving great coffee and beautiful homemade food. The old weatherboard building was once the Niagara School that has been converted into the café/restaurant and art gallery. The surrounding area includes lawns, lovely established garden and a vegetable patch used on their menu when available. The paddock next door has cows, sheep, llama, goat and chickens.  You can sit in what were once classrooms or a tropical conservatory area, plus a large balcony. Add in the personable approach of owner Amanda Banhidi and her staff, and you will be as impressed as we were."
